The Wyandot Community Garden is located on S Sandusky Street, just south of the Railroad Tracks, across from the Circle K. This plot of land was donated by the City of Upper Sandusky.
The fruits and vegetables grown in this garden are being donated to the food pantries in Upper Sandusky, Carey and Sycamore. It is the hope of the community garden committee that the effort will increase the amount of fresh produce available to all members of our county.
The community garden also offers plots, free of charge, to anyone wishing to plant a garden. Contact the Wyandot County Health Department to reserve a plot, 419-294-3852. Click here to download the needed release form.
According to the 2012 Wyandot County Heath Needs Assessment only 4% of Wyandot County residents ate 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day. The American Cancer Society recommends that adults eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day to reduce cancer risks and mantain good health.
This garden was made possible by the generous donation of time, talent, funds and resources of many local agencies, individuals and organizations. The garden committee would like to express our gratitude to the following list of donors:
- City of Upper Sandusky
- United Way of Wyandot County
- Leslie Family Farms, LLC
- Wyandot County Farm Bureau
- Kirby Sand & Gravel
- Dlubak Glass
- Mental Health & Recovery Board of Sandusky, Seneca & Wyandot Counties
- Friends and Family of the Garden Committee
